Do I need to sign up for anything to use R. Kelly’s Closet?

Nope! Anyone is welcome to read articles, download files, or post comments without any kind of login.

How do I post my own articles?

Okay, first you have to register as a new user. Create a username and type in your email address. After you click the “Register” button, check your email account. Shortly, an message will appear in your inbox with information on logging in for the first time.

Once you are logged in, click on the “Write” tab to create a new article. Be sure that you choose the correct category for your post. Fill in a title and content for your entry. If there are any links to be made, be careful to use proper HTML markup.

When you are confident with your writing, click on “Publish” to add your entry to the site. At any time, you can make changes by locating your article and clicking “Edit.”

I have an ill remix but no way to host it. Can you help me out?

1. Click on Torrents at the top of any page on R. Kelly’s Closet. Click on “Post a file” in the top-right corner of the next page.

2.Click on “Post a torrent” and the BM Helper application (Windows and Mac users only) will help you choose the file. After your file is uploaded, do not close the BM Helper window (even if it says 100%)!

Next, type out a title for your file and write up an enticing description.

Finally, click on “Publish” to add your torrent to R. Kelly’s Closet. Do not close your BM Helper window for at least 12 hours or else no one will be able to access your file!

Now that you have created a torrent, it will show up on the front page of the the R. Kelly’s Closet Broadcast Machine. Click on the title of your torrent and you’ll be taken to a page with details. If you kept the BM Helper window open, you’ll see that there is at least one “Seeder.” That’s you! (If the number of “Seeders” reaches zero, then no one will be able to download the file.)

3. To really finish the job, highlight the address of your torrent’s details page and paste it into a new article on the R. Kelly’s Closet community site.

It seems like a lot of work but there are really just three steps: create a torrent, seed the torrent, and post about the torrent! If you’re still having issues, email Claire and we’ll figure something out. If you put in the time, we’ll help you blow it up.

Tag any link on del.icio.us with rkelly and it will appear on our linkroll eventually.

Scroll down past the article about which you want to write and you’ll see the “Leave a comment” heading. Fill in the form below and click the “Submit” button. That’s it!
